From Effortless to Dreamy: A Studio Maternity Session in Elk Grove
Some sessions just feel dreamy from the first click. This studio maternity session was one of them. A first baby on the way, soft light everywhere I turned, and two looks that could not have felt more different from each other. It was soft, it was romantic, and it was everything a studio session should be.
There is a certain kind of excitement that comes with a first pregnancy, and it shows up in the smallest ways. The way a hand rests on a belly without even thinking about it. The way two people keep finding an excuse to stand a little closer together. None of that gets scripted, and none of it needs to be. My job is just to notice it and be ready.
I knew going into this session that we wanted range. Not just one look and done, but a real contrast, something relaxed and something elevated, so the final gallery would feel as full as the experience of pregnancy itself. That is exactly what we got, and it made for one of my favorite studio sessions this year.
Jeans, White Top, Clean Background
We started simple. Jeans and a white top against a crisp white background, one of my absolute favorite setups for maternity sessions. No distractions, no extra styling. Just two people about to become parents, standing close, laughing, letting that bump be the star of the show.
Then We Went Dreamy
For the second look, we brought in a cream, flowy dress and let soft white curtains do the rest. The light filtering through that fabric was unreal. Every frame felt like it belonged in a fairy tale, quiet and soft and a little bit magic. This look is quickly becoming one of my favorites for maternity clients who want something a little more elevated.
Why I Love Giving Clients Both
Pairing an easy, everyday look with something more romantic means my clients walk away with a gallery that feels like them, all of them. The relaxed version and the dreamy version. There is a place on the wall for both.
