An Experienced Elk Grove Newborn Photographer
Choosing a newborn photographer means trusting someone with one of the most important people in your world. I've been photographing families throughout Elk Grove and the Sacramento area for more than 15 years, creating everything from maternity and newborn portraits to first birthdays and family milestones.
My newborn sessions are intentionally relaxed, patient, and baby-led. Whether we're photographing your little one in my Elk Grove studio or in the comfort of your home, my goal is to create beautiful images while making the experience comfortable for both baby and parents.
What to Expect During Your Newborn Photo Shoot
We start with a quick consultation to talk through location, timing, and what to expect on session day.
From there, I guide you through everything. You just focus on your baby and let me handle the rest.
Siblings and partners are always welcome and honestly make for some of the most beautiful images of the whole session.
When Should You Book Newborn Photos?
The sweet spot for newborn sessions is within the first two weeks.
Babies are sleepier, more curled up, and easier to settle into those beautiful poses in those early days.
Book as soon as you can to hold your spot. Once baby arrives, reach out and let me know and then we'll confirm your date.
Want to wait longer than 2 weeks? That’s ok! I’ve done baby sessions up to the sitting stage. Just make sure your expectations are adjusted to what the age and development of your baby will be at the time you want to do photos.
As they get older, week by week, they’ll stretch out, get more cute baby fat, and be awake more which can mean eyes open pictures! But depending on age, they may not pose into those traditional newborn poses.
Maternity + Newborn Photography
The Grow With Me packages bundle your maternity and newborn sessions together — documenting the full journey from bump to baby with savings built in.

Elk Grove Newborn Photography FAQs
-
Newborn photos are typically best within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are still extra sleepy and naturally curl into those sweet newborn poses. That said, every baby is different, and beautiful newborn portraits can absolutely be created beyond that window. I keep sessions flexible and baby-led so we can work with your little one at whatever stage they're in.
-
Yes! My Elk Grove studio newborn sessions include both gently posed and natural newborn portraits. I use simple wraps, soft textures, natural tones, and minimal props to create timeless images that keep the focus on your baby. Sessions are always baby-led, with plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and snuggles as needed.
-
My private newborn photography studio is located in Elk Grove, California. The studio is set up specifically for comfortable newborn and portrait sessions, with wraps, backdrops, simple props, and everything we need to create your baby's portraits. I photograph families throughout Elk Grove, Sacramento, and surrounding communities.

Feed baby right before you head over to encourage sleepiness. Dress them in something easy to remove. That's genuinely it… I'll have everything else ready when you arrive.
-
Have a feeding ready for right before we start. Beyond that, just let me set up and we'll take it from there.
-
Soft neutrals photograph beautifully — cream, white, warm gray, earth tones.
Avoid busy patterns or bright colors that pull focus from baby. Comfortable is key since you'll be moving around and possibly nursing.
-
Yes — and I highly recommend it. Plan for siblings to join at the start while they have energy, then we'll transition to just baby. It makes for a really complete set of images.
-
Studio and in-home sessions are scheduled for up to 3 hours, but many finish sooner. The time is built in to accommodate feedings, soothing, swaddle changes, and anything else baby needs. There's no rushing.
-
Both are beautiful.
Studio is great if you want a clean, timeless look and prefer not to worry about your space.
In-home is wonderful if you want the images to feel personal and rooted in where your baby actually lives.
We can talk through it during your consultation.
-
Proof galleries are delivered within 3–5 days January–July, and 5–10 days during peak season August–December.
-
Yes! During your consultation, we’ll discuss the look and feel you want your photos to have. This will include talking about colors and preferred props.
If you do have your own outfits or props you want to include, that can also help to personalize the photos, but we’ll want to chat about them to make sure they’re the right fit for the photos.
A lot of times newborn outfits bought in the store are actually much too big for newborn photos, and that can ruin how the pictures look. But don’t worry - I’ll guide you through all of it!

Your baby's comfort and safety always come first. I never force a pose or rush through a session to get a particular shot. Newborn sessions are calm, patient, and baby-led, with plenty of time for feeding, changing, soothing, and breaks whenever they're needed. If your baby isn't comfortable in a pose, we simply move on to something else.
