Elk Grove Maternity Photographer
This season is fleeting.
Let's make sure you remember it.
You're growing a whole person! And that deserves to be documented. Maternity sessions with me are relaxed, guided, and genuinely fun. You don't need to know how to pose. You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need to show up, and I'll take care of the rest.
What to expect during your maternity photo session
Every maternity session starts with a quick consultation so we can talk through location, timing, and what to wear. From there, I guide you through everything — you'll never be left standing there wondering what to do with your hands.
Sessions are available outdoors at one of my favorite local spots, in the comfort of your own home, or in a natural light studio in Lodi. Whatever feels most like you.
You'll walk away with images that capture exactly how this season felt - the anticipation, the love, the beauty of it all.

Bundling maternity + newborn?
If you're already thinking ahead to your newborn session, check out the Grow With Me packages - bundled pricing that documents your journey from bump to baby to that first year milestone, with savings built in.
What should I wear?
This is the question I get most - and it matters.
Here's what photographs best for maternity:
Do: flowing fabrics, fitted dresses that show your bump, solid colors or soft neutrals, earthy tones, blush, cream, olive, dusty blue
Avoid: busy patterns, large logos, anything that doesn't make you feel beautiful and confident
My advice: If you're unsure, go with a flowy maxi dress in a solid color. It's almost always the right call. I’m here to help you through this process. You’re welcome to send me ideas of outfits for feedback.
Client Closet: I have an assortment of maternity dresses that you are welcome to use for your session as well. We discuss all of this during your booking consultation.
What My Clients Say
We had the most wonderful experience with Racquel for both our maternity and newborn photos. From start to finish, she was incredibly professional, organized, and so easy to work with. She was amazing with our 2-year-old—patient, playful, and made the session feel stress-free, which is no small feat with a toddler!
The photos turned out absolutely beautiful and captured this season of our family perfectly. We were also blown away by her quick turnaround time.
We can’t recommend Racquel enough and will treasure these photos forever.

Common Questions

The sweet spot for maternity photos is between 28 and 36 weeks. Your bump is full and round, but you're still feeling comfortable and mobile. I'd recommend booking early so you have your pick of dates, and time to plan your look.
-
I'd recommend booking by 24 weeks to secure your preferred date and time. Peak seasons (spring and fall) book fast.
For example, in April I’m already booking for August. -
Absolutely! I love including the whole family. It makes the session feel complete and gives you images that show this moment from every angle.
If you’re including other children, I suggest booking at least a Full Session to allow enough time.

Life happens! Your session deposit can be transferred to your next portrait session. There’s also always the potential to do a session in your hospital room! How fun!
