Big Brother's Big Announcement
A lake, a weeping willow, golden hour, and a family expecting a baby girl. Yes please.
We spent the session by the water, and the light was gorgeous. It filtered through those long willow branches and landed right on mom, which is exactly what I hope for with an evening maternity session.
The outfits made it even easier. Mom wore a cream, flowy dress with a crochet style cardigan over it, and dad and big brother wore white tops and jeans. Simple, soft, and nothing pulling your eye away from the faces. That's always my goal with outfits, so when a family lands there, I get a little excited.
First up was big brother's big moment. He held his "Big Brother 2026" letter board with mom and dad right behind him, smiling at each other. Then he picked up the ultrasound photo and held that too. Big brother on duty.
When it was just mom and dad, I got a lot of my favorite kind of frames. Dad kept pulling her in close for hugs and kisses, and I kept my camera up and followed along. Those quiet moments between the two of them are what I love most about maternity sessions.
After that, we set up a cozy picnic on the grass. A big white teddy bear, a bouquet of pink flowers, a basket with an ultrasound photo tucked inside, and a tiny pink "little sister" outfit were all waiting on the blanket. Mom and dad held up a pink onesie together, and we added a pair of baby booties. It's a fun way to share the news without saying a word.
Some of the sweetest frames are the ones where big brother leaned in close to mom's belly. It looked like he was already getting to know his little sister, and those are the ones I think this family will keep coming back to.
This family is also doing our Grow with Me package, which bundles the maternity session and the newborn session together and helps save along the way. That means I get to see this crew again soon, and I can already tell the newborn photos of this little lady are going to be darling.
Thank you, to this sweet family, for letting me be part of such a happy chapter. And if you're expecting too, I'd love to hear about it. Big kids, grandparents, a dog, whoever is part of your story can come along. Say hello here and we'll figure out the rest together.
