This young lady's promotion portraits were such a joy to be part of and honestly, they're a perfect reminder of why I love milestone sessions so much. This was more than just a photoshoot. This was a celebration of one chapter closing and something really exciting just beginning.
She is wrapping up elementary school and heading into middle school as a proud Class of 2026 graduate and let me tell you, she came ready to celebrate! She showed up in her graduation sash. First outfit was mom's pick (you know how that goes!), and while she rocked it like the trooper she is, you could tell she was still warming up. But the moment she changed into that soft mint striped top, denim shorts, and her green Jordans? That was when the real her showed up - relaxed, confident, and completely herself.
We shot in one of my favorite Elk Grove locations! The red pedestrian bridge with that gorgeous lush green backdrop, an open trail area with beautiful wildflowers blooming in the background. The warm golden hour light was doing everything that evening. The lavender wildflowers against those sandy paths, the dappled light through the trees on the dirt road… I couldn't have asked for a better setting for this girl.
One of my favorite moments from the whole session? This young lady sitting against the fence in that field of purple blooms, chin resting on her knees, just grinning. Pure joy. That image says everything about who she is right now… fun, carefree, and standing right on the edge of something amazing.
Sweet girl…. you are going to absolutely thrive in middle school. You showed so much personality and grace in front of the camera, and watching you come alive in that second outfit was one of those little moments I'll carry with me. Middle school is lucky to have you!
